Detail view of the shawl

This medium sized triangular shawl is worked from the bottom tip up to the top of the shawl. The shawl consists of an outer seed stitch border, an inner diamond pattern border and a central roses pattern.

The shawl starts from a single stitch on which the seed stitch border is created. The seven charts are then worked in order to the top of the shawl. The shawl is then finished with a final seed stitch border and is cast-off using an elastic cast-off.

The shawl is 168 cm (66 in) across the top edge of the shawl by 84 cm (33 in) down the center. To make the shawl larger, you can knit it with larger needles, or make additional repeats of the third chart with small modifications to the chart. The pattern explains those modifications.

You may purchase the PDF of this pattern by clicking on the Patternfish or Ravelry icons below. The pattern is $7.50.

Special Thanks

To Dorothy Siemens of Fiddlesticks Knitting for her generous help in designing and refining the lace charts.

To Amy Detjen for the use of her centered eyelet, which I used in the inner diamond pattern. This stitch construction is from her shawl pattern A Beginner's Triangle in A Gathering of Lace published by XRX Inc.

To Joan Kass for test knitting and help with pattern corrections.

To Cindy Jackson of The Apple Laine Yarn Company for the generous donation of her yarn to make an additional shawl.

Revision 1, August 2008

The charts have been redesigned and split onto four 8.5 by 11 inch pages instead of being on two 11 by 17 inch pages. These pages can be taped together for ease of use.

Three small omissions on the charts have also been fixed.

If you have previously purchased this pattern and wish to get the updated charts please contact Danny Ouellette at danny@doknitting.com.
