Wavy Lace Cap

This lacy cap is a perfect little something for summer time wear. Slightly oversized, it loosely fits a medium sized adult head. The simple lace pattern forms a wave that runs around your head.

It is knit flat using short rows, and then grafted together to form a seamless cap.

You may purchase the PDF of this pattern by clicking on the Patternfish or Ravelry icons below. The pattern is $5.00.

Yarn Suggestions
I recommend using Sport to DK weight yarns containing silk, rayon, cotton, linen or hemp.

The cap uses 100 m (110 yd) of yarn. If you are changing the size of the cap, please allow about 15% more yarn for a larger size, and 10% less for a smaller size.

The following yarns have been tested with good results.

sweaterkits.com - Pure Silk Yarn
100% silk, 50 g (1¾ oz), 140 m (153 yd) - 1 ball.
Caroline also produces small runs of hand-dyed skiens of this silk. Email her directly to find out what she has available.

Filatura di Crosa - Brilla and Brilla Print
42% Cotton, 58% Viscose
50 g (1¾ oz), 110 m (121 yd) - 1 ball.

These yarns should also work nicely.

Yarns Plus - Rayon Chenille
100% hand-dyed rayon, 57 g (2 oz), 165 m (181 yd) - 1 skein or
100% mill-dyed rayon, 453 g (1 lb), 1326 m (1450 yd) - 1 cone.

Lanaknits Designs - Hemp Yarn
Hemp 6 or 6C, 100% hemp, 50 g (1¾ oz), 97 m (106 yd) - 2 balls

You may be able to make a cap out of one ball of this hemp, but to be safe please purchase two. The hemp will shrink about 5% in length, so you can compensate by knitting at a slightly looser guage.
